Last week, on March 29, 2021, an online meeting of the LIFE Artina PProject Management Board (PMB) was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Association BIOM, as a project manager, and partners Public Institution Nature Park Lastovo Islands, Association Sunce and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Directorate of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture.
THe aim of these meetings is to inform the members, and especially the representatives of the governing bodies, with project activities and to brief them about the project progress so far. In addition, in order to protect and preserve the populations of target species, process of declaring new marine conservation areas important for birds (POP) was discusses among the members .
Representatives of the Directorate of Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment and Energy reiterated during the meeting the importance of cooperation between the nature protection and fisheries sectors on the one hand, and administrative bodies and civil society organizations on the other. In order to establish this cooperation, mutual sharing of information is needed, as well as participation in various processes that will enable better understanding and greater cross-sectoral support.
